For writers of the quiet hours

Moonlit Scribes

Write while the world sleeps. Share your work. Find your people.

Free to join  ·  The first 100 members become Founding Scribes

Late at night or before the dawn, when the house is quiet and the words finally come, you shouldn't have to write alone. Moonlit Scribes is a gathering place for writers who find their best hours while the world sleeps: novelists and poets, and those writing their life stories for the people they love.

Meet Selene, the Moonlit Muse

Selene offers prompts and encouragement. Every word is yours.

The Moonlit Muse

Selene is here tonight with prompts and encouragement. Soon she'll offer feedback when you ask, but your words are never written for you.

II.

The Showcase

Share finished pieces or works in progress, and get honest notes from fellow writers on where to take them next.

III.

The Crossroads

Post story ideas that need a co-writer, or find a project to join. Meet collaborators and make something together.

Adults 18+  ·  Feedback, never ghostwriting  ·  Your work is never used to train AI

Our first gathering · January 2027

Moonlit January

Thirty-one nights, one story. Start the year with us: writing sprints every night from midnight to dawn, a fresh prompt each evening, and a place in the Showcase for everyone who finishes. Write a novel, a novella, or a handful of poems. Every word counts, and no one is left behind for falling short.

The road ahead

What we're building, together

Moonlit Scribes is just beginning. Here's where we're headed, and the people who join first will help decide how we get there.

  1. Tonight

    A place to start

Write with Selene whenever the words come, then join nightly sprints and a fresh prompt each evening in our Discord.

  2. January 2027

    Moonlit January

Our first gathering: thirty-one nights, one story, and a place in the Showcase for every writer who finishes.

  3. 2027

    The Showcase & workshops

A home for your finished work with honest feedback circles, plus workshops and conversations with published authors.

  4. Planned

    Moonlit Memoir

A year of writing your life story alongside others: a gentle question from Selene each week, a small circle of fellow memoir writers, and a book of your own at the end.

  5. Beyond

The Crossroads & a wiser Selene

Find co-writers and collaborators for your projects, and a Selene who offers thoughtful feedback when you ask. She'll never write a word for you.

  6. Always

The moon is always up somewhere

Writers across every time zone, so whenever you sit down to write, someone is writing with you.

Moonlit Scribes began with a simple belief: the hours when the world is asleep are some of the best for writing, and no one should have to spend them alone. I'm building it carefully, alongside the people who join first. If you write late at night or before the dawn, I'd love for you to help shape what it becomes.

Questions

Before you join

Is it really free?

Yes. Writing with Selene, the Discord community, nightly sprints, prompts and Moonlit January are all free. In time we'll add paid workshops with published authors and an optional membership, but the free community stays free.

Do I need Discord?

Not to start. You can write with Selene right here with no account at all. To join sprints and meet other writers, you'll need a free Discord account; it takes about a minute to set up.

Is it only for night owls?

Not at all. "The quiet hours" means whenever the world is quiet and you're writing anyway: late at night, before dawn, or the hour after the house goes still.

I'm writing my life story, not a novel. Is this for me?

Very much so. Memoir, family history, letters for your children and grandchildren: every kind of writing belongs here. Selene's prompts include questions to help you remember and tell your story.

What's your stance on AI?

Feedback, never ghostwriting. Today Selene offers prompts and encouragement and uses no AI. In the future she may offer feedback when you ask, but she will never write your words for you, and your work is never used to train AI.

I'm a beginner. Will I fit in?

Yes. Everyone starts somewhere, and our rule is simple: critique the work, never the writer. Small word counts are celebrated as much as big ones.

Who can join?

Adults 18 and over. That keeps the community safe and lets members write honestly about every part of life.

Where does my writing go?

Anything you write with Selene stays in your own browser. It isn't sent to us or anyone else. Download it anytime to keep a copy. See our privacy policy for details.
